This edition has been extensively revised from the original edition. I believe this edition offers much improved clarity and enhances the effectiveness and quality of the Four-book Series overall. The purpose of this book, along with volumes 2, 3, and 4, is to explain, in a progressive manner, the seminal relationship between astronomy, myth, and modern religion. The book shows that ancient mythology was, in fact, a written record of the celestial movements within the Cosmos, under the type of mythical deities. I have chosen the stories of the mythological characters of the Bible and Quran, including the mythical Jesus Christ, as a means of demonstrating the astronomical correlations between the lives of these biblical characters and the transits of the sun and other cosmic lights. Review
Most of us did not choose the religion that we worship under, no more than we chose to be born into this fickle world of challenges, intermixed with delights. Our religious affiliations, for the most part, are accidents of birth, that is to say, whatever religious persuasion we inherited from our parents or culture is the religion we have unsuspectingly embraced as our own, not by choice but rather in keeping with enduring family traditions. This, we have done, without hesitation, examination, or question. We have assumed that what we adore as our faith or belief is true and correct. We have grown from childhood to adulthood with the assumption that we and our fellow believers are on the right path to god and salvation. We also sincerely believe that the religious cultures of others outside of our own denomination or creed are inferior to our own tenets or otherwise invalid, that is to say, not genuinely connected to the true god; the true god being, of course, designated as our god that we have named or labeled as Yahweh, Jesus, or Allah. We, of the various monotheistic faiths or denominations, proclaim confidently that god himself is the architect and author of our creeds, and that all those who do not share our beliefs are either pagans, infidels, savages, or perhaps misguided; and are not worthy of the deliverance and exaltation that awaits us as god s chosen. Some of us, at the extreme ends of our religious spectrums, even go so far as to say that those who worship outside of our own ranks, that is to say followers of other faiths, do not even possess souls worth saving, that We (a we in the category of a sometimes extreme or fanatical Jew, Christian, or Muslim) are the chosen and destined of god. Such are the daily refrains of the Christians, Muslims, and Jews each, who in their own parochial delusional styles and modes postulate that We are god s chosen. Of course such (monotheistic) claims of superiority in the eyes of god can never be verified as valid, except that a true Judgment Day actually arrives, and the awaited savior descends from the heavens in mighty force to proclaim his chosen, and destroy all others. This, of course, will never happen. The proclamations of the monotheists as to the preferred status of their belief systems is based on the enthusiasm, faith, and loyalty of the believers, not on facts in evidence. It cannot be proven that god is a Jew, a Christian, or a Muslim; or that god desires that we become such. Our religious affiliations are determined more so by our cultural environments than by any other reasons. --From the Author
